Since there was no task this week, I figured I would upload some previous images I took on one of my little photography trips. The river photo in particular is my favourite.

For Week 7, we were tasked with taking a photograph of a stranger off campus. As a person who is ridiculously shy outside of my “comfort circle”, this task was my worst nightmare dressed as an assignment. I put off this task for a long time because the thought of talking to someone outside of my day-to-day life- quite frankly- makes me feel nauseous. Nevertheless, I knew I had to do the assignment, so I took my friend Jenny [featured in week 3] and set out into the world with my Canon 700D [with a 17-50mm Sigma lens] and feeling of dread. Despite my phobia of mankind, I can somehow wing my way through most situations, so this would be one of them. We travelled around the High Street, searching for potential people to take a photo of. We saw a few buskers, but I didn’t want to take photos of someone without their permission- plus- they’re quite often targeted for photos like the homeless typically are. As we wandered further down, we passed a stall without really paying attention when a man behind it hollered, “Make sure to get my best side!” Obviously he had seen our cameras and figured it would be funny to shout a smart remark at us. I took this as an opportunity. After I had gotten actual permission to photograph him, I managed to get a decent photo given he wasn’t expecting for us to follow through with his comment.
My inspiration was a photographer named David Garcia, who has a similar style in terms of his portraiture appearing to be of a stranger that he found whilst he was about. I found him whilst looking up on https://www.the-aop.org/ as suggested [his profile is https://www.the-aop.org/find/photographers/profile/384/david-garcia] and found through the provided links.
This week we found ourselves in the studio under the instructions of “arrive as your Alter Ego”, which to me, I would see myself as a bit of a Dark Witch and always fancied myself being offered a place at Hogwarts. I suppose the University of Lincoln is sort of close enough?
I then had a go at taking a few photo’s myself.
